REQUIREMENTS FOR GHANA STUDENT VISA

Passport Requirements: Provide your signed original passport book. Please note: Your valid passport book must have at least six months of remaining validity and at least one blank page in it. Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for visa stamps.

Four (4) completed Visa Applications. Please note: improperly completed forms may delay the processing of your visa. The signature on each Ghana visa application must be original.

Letter of Acceptance: A letter of acceptance from the Educational Institution in Ghana

Four (4) passport pictures in color, front view and with a plain/light background, taken not more than three (3) months from the date of submission of the application.

In accordance with INTERNATIONAL SANITARY REGULATIONS all persons entering Ghana are requested to have a valid certificate of immunization against yellow fever.

For Washington Embassy: Please DO NOT submit your certificate together with the visa application form. You must keep it with you and present it at the port of entry in Ghana.

For New York Consulate: Please submit your International certificate of vaccination against Yellow Fever along with your Visa Application Form.

Invitation from the Principals in Ghana:
The student visa shall be submitted together with a letter of invitation from the principals in Ghana and/or in U.S.A. The letter from the Principals must be addressed to:
Embassy of Ghana, Visa Section, Washington, D.C.
This letter must include the following information:

Introduce the applicant, indicating the applicant’s student status held in the US School;

* Nature of the Studies to be performed in Ghana;

* The Principal’s letter must also indicate who will be financially responsible for the applicant and must provide detailed contact information for the student while in Ghana.

* Guarantee of return transportation and sufficient funds for the visit.

* The letter should be signed by a school’s officer/ principal.

Additional Requirements:

If you do not have any blank visa pages in your passport, you must first amend your passport to have pages added, or if your passport expires within six months, you must first renew your passport. Before you apply for a Ghana Visa please call us to assist you on how to obtain or renew your passport or add pages to your existing passport book. We can secure your visa using the added pages or new passport.

Non US-passport holders or Temporary foreign visitors with a valid US visa or foreign residents with legitimate status in the US may apply for a Ghana visa at the Ghana Embassy. Applicants in these categories must send a photocopy of their US Green Card, Work Permit, I-20 Form, valid US Visa, and valid ID. The Embassy will decide whether to issue the visa on a case by case basis. The Embassy may ask the applicant to provide additional documents.

Applicants under the age of 18 (eighteen) MUST provide the following documents in addition to the standard requirements stated above:

Copy of Birth Certificate

Signed Letters of Consent by both parents

Photocopies of the parents' passports (bio-data page) or valid ID
